What we do

Five services built around the daily news cycle

pulsecra covers the full path of a television story, from the first shot to the file a broadcaster accepts. Our crews film breaking events, light studio presenters and interviewees, redesign newsroom workflows, train camera operators and deliver edited packages in the formats you need.

  1. Breaking News Crews

Camera operators and editors who film, cut and file broadcast-ready packages while a story is still developing.

  2. Studio Portrait Lighting

Lighting design for presenter and interviewee set-ups so faces look natural under studio conditions.

  3. Newsroom Workflow Design

We map how footage, scripts and approvals move through your newsroom and remove the delays.

  4. Camera Technique Training

Hands-on days covering framing, handheld movement, exposure and sound for news shooters.

  5. Rapid Edit and Delivery

Fast turnaround editing, captioning and file delivery in the formats broadcasters ask for.

Tell us the story type, your deadline pattern and the formats you deliver in, and we will outline which of these services fits and how the work would be scoped.

Why editors call us

Practical strengths for newsrooms working to deadline

Producers tend to value the same things: pictures that are usable on the first pass, clear communication from the field and a process that does not add delay between the camera and the gallery.

Contact
  • Filed while developing

Our crews film, cut and send packages while a story is still unfolding, so your programme has fresh material instead of waiting for the situation to settle.

  • Experienced operators

Our camera operators and editors come from regional news work and know what a producer needs: clean sound, steady handheld shots and clear cutaways.

  • Workflow without bottlenecks

We map how footage, scripts and approvals travel through your building, then remove the hand-offs that cost minutes on every story.

  • Accuracy before polish

Every package is checked against the facts supplied by your editor, with names, locations and captions verified before anything leaves our edit suite.

  • Lighting that suits faces

Studio portrait lighting is designed for presenters and interviewees so skin tones look natural and the set holds up under the cameras your gallery uses.

  • Formats broadcasters accept

Files are delivered captioned and encoded to the specifications your playout or partner stations ask for, with an archive copy kept for later use.

How it works

From first call to delivered package

Each commission starts with a conversation about your story or your newsroom. We then agree scope in writing, do the work to your deadline and hand over files you can put straight to air.

  1. Briefing call

You tell us the story, location, deadline and delivery format. We ask what your editor needs most, whether that is a live-ready cut, raw rushes or a polished package.

  2. Written scope

We send a written quotation or confirmation setting out crew, hours, equipment and what is included, so both sides know the work before anyone travels.

  3. Filming or review

A crew goes to the location, or a consultant studies your workflow on site. Either way, we work to your editorial standards and keep your producer informed.

  4. Edit and checks

Footage is cut, captioned and checked for accuracy against your brief. Changes requested by your editor are made before the final files are exported.

  5. Delivery and invoice

Files arrive in the formats agreed, with an archive copy held. We then issue an invoice, payable by bank transfer under our payment and refund policy.

Questions editors ask us

These are the points producers raise most often before commissioning. If yours is not covered, send it through the contact page and we will reply directly.

  1. Can you film a story at short notice?

Yes, breaking news is the reason our crews exist. Call us with the location and your deadline, and we will tell you straight away whether we can get an operator and editor there in time. We would rather say no early than promise something we cannot deliver.

  2. What formats do you deliver in?

We deliver in the formats your broadcaster or partner stations specify, with captions where required. Tell us your technical specification when you brief us, and Tom Pritchard, our senior editor, will set up the export to match it before the work begins.

  3. Do you only work with television broadcasters?

Our work is aimed at television news and the teams around it, including regional broadcasters, news producers and editors. If your project is outside that field, contact us and describe it; we will say honestly whether it suits our crews and skills.

  4. How does the camera training day work?

Training is hands-on, led by our lead camera operator, and covers framing, handheld movement, exposure and sound for news shooters. We agree the content with you beforehand so the day addresses the weaknesses your team actually has.

  5. What does a newsroom workflow review involve?

Priya Chauhan looks at how footage is ingested, edited and approved in your building, speaks to the people involved and traces where stories wait. You then receive a written set of changes, ordered by how much time each would save.

  6. How do I get a price?

Our prices page sets out what each service costs and what changes it. For your own commission, send an enquiry through the contact page and we will reply with a written quotation or confirmation before any work starts.

  7. How and when do I pay?

Payment is by invoice and bank transfer after the work is agreed and delivered. Nothing is bought on the website itself. Cancellations and refunds follow our payment and refund policy, which is published on the site.

  8. Where are you based?

We work from 14 Quay Works, Commercial Road, Gloucester, GL1 2EH, and travel to locations for filming and newsroom visits. You can reach us on 01452 580 417 or at hello@pulsecra.org.
